Maris (53) zat naast haar zoon, die op de drukke Van Brienenoordbrug de rem intrapte om een ganzenfamilie te redden van de dood. Twee banen op de A16 kregen een rood kruis vanwege de diertjes die doodleuk over de weg waggelden. Maar voor Maris, die zelf vijftien vogels en twee honden heeft, was er geen andere keus. ,,Mijn hart breekt als die beestjes doodgereden worden.”
