Op een druilerige septemberochtend in 2023 gaat het helemaal mis op de A4 bij Schipluiden. Een 22-jarige weggebruiker mist bij afrit 14 matrixborden waarop staat dat hij zijn snelheid moet matigen tot 50 kilometer, en klapt op een andere auto. Een van de inzittenden, een Poolse arbeidsmigrant, kan zijn droom om deel te nemen aan een marathon wel vergeten. Hij loopt tijdens het ongeval een dwarslaesie op.
